MEGlobal operates the FS1 EO/EG (Ethylene Oxide/Ethylene Glycol) plant in Fort Saskatchewan in the Alberta Province of Canada, home to approximately 45 employees. The Fort Saskatchewan site began operations in 1961.

In addition to the MEGlobal EO/EG plant, the site is also home to The Dow Chemical Company who operate five world-scale plants including Fracionator, Ethylene, Polyethylene, STYROFOAM™, power and utilities.


Production Capacity
The FS1 EO/EG plant is one of the largest in Canada, producing more than 600,000 pounds of ethylene oxide and 850,000 pounds of ethylene glycol every year.

Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S)
EH&S is the number one priority for MEGlobal for our employees, our customers and the communities in which we operate. In all its locations around the world, MEGlobal is committed to the principles of Responsible Care, and strives for Target Zero. At the FS1 EOEG plant, EH&S achievements include:

  • Zero injuries or illnesses since 2005
  • Zero loss of primary containment (LOPC) since 2006
  • Zero process safety incidents since 2006
  • Zero motor vehicle accidents since 2000
  • Zero days away from work (DAWC) cases since 1997

An EnviroVista Leader
For the third consecutive year, MEGlobal’s Fort Saskatchewan Operations played a key role in helping Dow Chemical Canada remain an EnviroVista Leader in 2008, one of only 30 Alberta facilities honored in recognition of outstanding performance that exceeds the expectations of the province’s environmental legislation and demonstrates responsibility, stewardship and an ongoing commitment to improving environmental performance.
