MEGlobal donates $50,000 for freeze relief in Texas

OYSTER CREEK, TX – MEGlobal Americas Inc. is contributing $50,000 to help families and communities impacted by the winter weather events in Texas last week.

The funds will be allocated to the United Way of Brazoria County, the Brazoria County Dream Center and Brazosport Cares Food Pantry.

“The impacts of the recent freezing weather are being felt throughout our region and as a member of the Brazoria County community, MEGlobal is delighted to be able to step up and provide some additional resources to organizations lending a helping hand during this time,” said MEGlobal public affairs manager Trish Thompson. “We appreciate those organizations and their staff so much and we are incredibly fortunate to live in a place where  people come together in times of need.”

Jenna Haviland-Alesna, Executive Director of United Way of Brazoria County, said they were extremely grateful for the contribution.

“Brazoria County is experiencing widespread damage and economic uncertainty due to recent weather and COVID-19,” she said. “Through partnerships and collaborations with companies and organizations like MEGlobal, Brazosport Cares and the Brazoria County Dream Center, United Way of Brazoria County is able to assist the most vulnerable populations meet their most basic needs.  In times of disaster, our community rises to the occasion and this is how we #LiveUnited.”

The funds will be used to purchase much-needed food, supplies and hygiene items, as well as to provide rent and utility assistance.

In addition to the $50,000 financial contribution, MEGlobal also donated 10 pallets of bottled water to Brazoria County for distribution to communities impacted by water outages.

Since beginning plant operations in 2019, the company has contributed more than $1.3 million to local non-profit organizations.
