Prentiss, Alberta — December 7, 2020

In the midst of a pandemic and global economic uncertainty, MEGlobal Prentiss employees reaffirmed their commitment to helping local communities and gave so generously that they set a new record in the 2020 MEGlobal Employee Charities Campaign, raising $161,348 for the United Way of Central Alberta.

The contribution includes $79,544 in payroll contributions from employees, a $79,544 matching donation from MEGlobal Canada ULC., and $2,260 raised in special events.

The new record broke the previous mark set in 2018 when MEGlobal Prentiss gave a total of $157,507.

The United Way is a global non-profit organization that leads, and partners, in championing community solutions by creating new opportunities, leveraging and investing resources and collaborating with others. The result is positive impact for thousands of individuals and families and a healthier and stronger community for everyone.

United Way Central Alberta Chief Executive Officer Brett Speight said MEGlobal is one of the leading corporate contributors in the Central Alberta area and their support is greatly appreciated.

“Every year MEGlobal is one of the top contributors to our campaign, and this year with the challenges presented by COVID and the need being greater than ever, they stepped up even more and had a record year. We can not thank them enough for their generousity and the support for the community,” Speight said.

MEGlobal campaign spokesman David Miller said he was overwhelmed by the way MEGlobal employees reacted to increased need in local communities.

“So much of the news in 2020 was doom and gloom, but it is in these darker times that the generosity of many individual employees shines through. I am very proud of my fellow employees at Prentiss,” he said.

He added the record-breaking campaign reinforced the message that everyone has the ability to positively contribute.

“We all exist in this world together, but there is more to life than just existing.  To have a healthy community you need the individuals and corporations, who have the ability to give back to the community, to step forward and make these donations. That’s how communities become stronger and healthier and overall it makes the world a better place to live.”

Overall, MEGlobal employees and their corporate offices in North America will give more than $231,000 to the United Ways of Central Alberta, the Alberta Capital Region, Brazoria County, TX and Greater Houston, TX.
